Portland Demonstrations for UKTI Overseas Commercial Officers

On behalf of the Trade Association A|D|S, ProTeez organised the Maritime Security Briefing for 17 Commercial Officers from UKTI DSO at Portland on 10 November 2010. These Commercial Officers are employed locally at United Kingdom Embassies, High Commissions and other Missions abroad. They come back to the UK every four years or so to be updated by HM Government and UK Industry on policy and equipment.

11 Companies from the Maritime Security Sector supported ProTeez in the conduct of the day. These included: Drumgrange; Link Microtek; Lockheed Martin UK; MSI Defence; SEA; Servowatch; Sonardyne; Tactronics; Ultra Electronics; VDL; and ViT Imaging Technology. Of note, Servowatch and Tactronics held live demonstrations afloat and Tactronics also demonstrated an operating Coastal Mobile Surveillance Unit ashore. In addition SEA exhibited a Smart Car converted to monitor vehicles using an electro optic device.

The day started with a briefing by A|D|S and then a live Table Top Exercise was conducted by ProTeez showing a fictitious waterborne attack on the 2012 Sailing Olympics Games, with some of the consequences emerging from such an action. This was followed by a series of demonstrations at the ProTeez Office, which had been converted into an Operations Centre so Lockheed Martin, Servowatch, Tactronics, Ultra and VIT could show their relevant products in a live environment. Meanwhile, in an adjacent Conference Suite, the remainder of the companies demonstrated relevant static equipment. The Commercial Officers visited all the stands, including the mobile demonstrations, and reported to UKTI and A|D|S that the day was a huge success.
